Walt and Brad Hoy: Part of Rec Swimming Since 1964

I was lucky enough to grab this interview before the whole county (and 6 others in the Bay Area) were locked down by the Corona virus.

Walt and Brad Hoy shared their memories of swimming and coaching rec swimming, first at Walnut Knolls and then at Walnut Creek Swim Club.

They each will have more to say in the full documentary, but I thought it would be fun to grab this clip of the two of them together.

Fun fact: Walt grew up in San Francisco. His dad wasn’t so keen on swimming. So Walt used to ride the cable cars until his hair was dry and then dirty his face before he went home after his time in the pool.

When Brad was young, his mom and dad gave him and his brother a couple of choices for how to spend their time in the summer -- martial arts, Chinese school or swimming. And here we are..

I hope you and your family are safe and doing well in the midst of this pandemic. If you find yourself hanging out on Facebook a little more these days, please share this blog with your friends.

Hopefully we’re back in the water soon, enjoying the time on deck with our friends and continuing with production of this film.
